This is an uneven but adequately enjoyable slice of blaxploitation from the seventies following criminal offense dominate Pascha as he negotiates a dispute with the Italian mafia over numbers racketeering in Harlem.
At that place are a few entertaining action sequences including a automobile gun massacre early, an amped upward car hunt and several encarmine murders carried out by the mysterious Serene who is Pascha'due south assassin of sorts. The 'North' word is thrown around liberally, there's some obligatory female person nudity and the cops and city officials are portrayed equally being as corrupt as y'all would look The Human being to be.
Paul Harris is charismatic in the pb role and has a voice to rival Morgan Freeman, while the residual of the acting… -
Small-scale-fourth dimension crime boss Pasha just wants to run his numbers game in peace, but y'all know darn well that The Human in his various incarnations isn't about to let that happen.
On paper, this is a pretty pedestrian law-breaking moving-picture show, and a rather low-stakes one at that. In practice, though, this is a gas due largely to a stone-common cold killer of a soundtrack and the poisonous charm of Paul Harris as the suave but avuncular neighborhood kingpin. The criminals-doing-crimes bits are fun, especially anything involving Pasha'due south joyfully fell bodyguard Serene, only the biggest highlights for me are the many slices of life where we driblet in on the local losers, hustlers and working stiffs equally they play their numbers and…

I wasn't really enjoying this at first, but it did outset to grow on me. Information technology's i of those movies that is doing its own thing, and once you cease trying to impose cinematic norms onto information technology, the experience gets a lot more satisfying.
Pasha runs numbers in Harlem during the 1950's. The Chicago mob is looking to take over his territory. It's an election year, so the threat of raids by the city regime looms large. Plus, there'due south potentially trouble from within his ranks. He's only got a few days to stay alive and keep his empire intact.
I don't know what kind of budget this is was shot with, merely it'due south staggeringly low and the production quality is mostly quite bad. Notwithstanding, when gore is required, this moving-picture show sort of goes over the tiptop to deliver and there's a decent chase sequence hither and there that are worth checking out.

Wonderfully sleazy, low-rent blaxploitation from '74 with a suave operation from Paul Harris as a numbers racketeer fending off the mob and a snitch within his organization. Also known equally "Jive Turkey", this feels like information technology was one wrong plow from being a Rudy Ray Moore project, but the mood is grim hither, and even has moments of H.G. Lewis mode gore and blood. Also has a actually great soundtrack. See this if you can.

This has the ability to be an admittedly crawly and blood splattered comfort moving picture.
A cross dressing hitman drugs two men, and so beats them to expiry with a high heel. There, that's all y'all need to know. Go watch it, and just exist happy. -
"White girls would be just fine - if they had more than backside."
"At present information technology´s up to you to either piss or get of the pot" (This is the oldest picture show where I heard this judgement)
There is a disharmonize betwixt the Mob, Politics and Black Criminals. Then, there is an icecold killer who murders very bloody and with joy.
The actors are likeable but obvious amateurs. The plot isn´t anything special, the staging is ok, but it lacks an eye for interesting details and sense of humor at least in the first half. The title song is absolutely to my taste. After this in that location sadly is only 0815 soundtrack. The movie has some cute scenes with low-cal and coloring, autonomously from this the camera is rather functional.

A gritty low-upkeep crime jewel, Infant Needs a New Pair of Shoes especially exceeded my expectations in selling its menses setting despite the budgetary limitations. Refreshingly talky, the characters are well developed and the story works hard to transcend the simplistic black hero versus Italian mob/cops shtick of similar Blaxploitation fare. Paul Harris is first-class as Pasha, the black numbers boss holding out confronting the mob. A protagonist painted in ever gloomy shades of greyness, there are no omnipotent activeness heroics here.

Filmed as Infant NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES,this 50s menses slice blaxploitation gangster actioner/drama depicts Chicago as information technology's reigned past two different racial mobster factions: the white ring that's fronted by Tony(Frank DeKova[{TV's} F-TROOP,THE SLAMS,JOHNNY FIRECLOUD) and the black ring that's fronted past numbers volume keeping Hiram Pasha(Paul Harris),a slick talking, three slice adjust clad homo who charismatically controls the black side of town and has his hitmen, including the murderous transvestite Serene(Don Edmondson) rubbing out those who incorrect him. Thecombined forces of the city officals, the police, and DeKova's faction decide to musculus Harris out of town, who ferociously fights back with everything he's got. Under the heart of manager Beak Brame(THE Wheel SAVGES,FREE GRASS),the film is a swift moving blaxploitaioner that has…

the near interesting thing nigh this is how its criminal hierarchy is most entirely Black, except for the very top echelon. and oh man, the music. too bad the balance is a moralizing "Crime Doesn't Pay!" narrative.

aka JIVE TURKEY. This is everything I honey in a 70s blaxploitation picture. Depression budget, largely amateurish cast, ridiculous violence, and the white bad guys go what they deserve. Pasha (Paul Harris, TRUCK TURNER) is the king of the number rackets. The Mafia (led by Frank DeKova. I've seen DeKova play mobsters before, more often than not on "The Untouchables" but I associate him with stereotypical Native Americans) wants to accept over. It's also ballot time and the hood is an easy target for law and order candidates. Non much plot. Pretty piece of cake to figure out who the snitch is. Psycho hitwoman Serene's big secret is also obvious.
